_ 明日までに日本の病院に、どこで出産するかを回答しないといけない。だのに、まだどちらとも決めかねないでいる。日本で出産することのメリット：問題はいろいろあれど、公的な援助や万が一の事故の際の補償などが一応整備されている。とくに高齢出産・逆子とくれば、なおさらそういう環境がありがたいことはわかっている。一方、デメリット：病み上がりの母に負担をかけてしまいそうなこと、夫が日本に来るに際してのもろもろの手続きの煩雑さ（本人がなんとかするだろうが。。）、お姑さんとの関係がなお悪化するだろうという確信など。。某国で出産することのメリット：衛生面などで若干の不安はあるが、とにかく人手はあるし、多少のお金を払えば何事もすべて思うように解決できる、一方、公的な援助等々は一切なし。お姑さんはもちろんよろこぶだろう→しかしこれまでの経緯もあるから、冷やかな対応がなされる可能性もなきにしもあらずではある。4月上旬に失効してしまう日本への復路チケットが残っている（まあ大したことないんですが、それでも、ねえ。。）。デメリット：数えだしたらきりがなかったりしますので、数えません。。
てな具合で、天秤にかけたら、某国で出産するのがわたしにとっては楽だったりする。えっちらおっちらと飛行機に乗るのも、乗ってしまえばあとはなんとかなるわけだから。それでもなお決めかねている理由は、周囲の某国関係者がほとんど全員、日本で産みなさいと勧めることなのである。某国の出産時における妊婦および新生児の死亡率は、日本とは比較にならないくらいに高い。そのこともあってみな心配してくれるのであろうことは承知している。だから余計に迷うのである。凸凹大学に留学している某国人の知り合いも、ほとんどが日本で出産しないの？という。さらに迷う。
結局、冷静に考えると、わたしが迷っている最大の理由は、お姑さんのこと、夫が本当にひとりで日本に来られるかということ、残りのチケットがもったいないかなということ、そして日本で生まれたということが、ミジンコさんの今後の人生にどんな影響を及ぼすのだろうか、ということに尽きるのかもしれない。あとの公的な保障がある云々は考えてももう仕方がないことで、案外とするっと安産で母子ともに健康極まりないという結果が得られるかもしれないわけでもある。ミジンコさんはどちらで産まれても成人するまでは二重国籍保持者である。行ったり来たりの根なし草になっては困るけれど、彼女がどちらの国のアイデンティティを好むのか、あるいは臨機応変に使いこなす人になるのか、あるいはもっと別の選択肢を選ぶことになるのか、わたしの方に今、そのビジョンがないから、これだけ迷うのかとも思う。生まれた場所への愛着という点を考えるにつけ、国境やら国家にとらわれない育て方をしたいものだとも考える。久方ぶりに「クレオール主義」を繙く。
